Discrimination and Harassment
It is illegal for an employer to discriminate against an employee or harass a person because of that person's sex, race, religion, national origin, disability status or age. Note, however, that generalized harassment or negative treatment just because a boss "doesn't like" an employee is not illegal. The discrimination or harassment must be tied to a protected EEO status of the employee.
